Aligning yourself with The Good
A useful exercise for getting yourself on track is to consciously align yourself with The Good. It’s very simple.
As soon as you get up in the morning, remind yourself to align with the Good, or whichever term you’re most comfortable with. Throughout the day, follow where your energy is going and see where it takes you. In doing this you are simply giving yourself permission to be the best version of yourself in the actual circumstances you find yourself in, not in some idealised version of your life. Think of it as setting your compass for the day. Doing this will not automatically guarantee that everything goes swimmingly. It doesn’t mean you can’t feel down, sad, even grief stricken; emotions will come and go as they always do. You will still have to complete any organisational tasks required. And if there is something not right in your life that you’re ignoring, it will probably still come to a head sooner or later. It simply means you are encouraging yourself to pursue the most useful, authentic path for yourself in the moment. You are pursuing your highest good for this day only – not the rest of your life, or the current week, month or year, but just for today. You may feel a bit more clarity, a greater sense of purpose and direction, and a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day. Try it a few times and see if it works for you. If it doesn’t, ditch it. |
